Of all the times to purchase a booth at the Calgary Comic Expo this would be it! It's the 10th anniversary and I am really excited. This will be my first expo attending as a merchant.
I have researched a ton of blogs, and looked up tips and advice, and given myself a full year to prepare. I don't think I have to worry about setting myself up for disappointment. I know that I probably won't be able to leave my booth that often, unless of course someone is watching my booth for me (My Husband :D ) I set a realistic goal of how many of my BEST pictures to bring which I don't believe is that many, but I am just starting and I believe quality is better than quantity. From what I understand, that one picture you do bring, that is not as well done as all the rest, could bring down the rest of your work, so I will only be bringing what I believe is to be my best work.
Another thing is, I am not doing it for money. I mean it's nice, but these types of things I think aren't going to bring in the big bucks and it's just not the main thing I care about that much at the moment. I would have to say the reason why I am doing it is because I knew that if I left it another year, I would never do it. It's one of those things where I just needed to go all in on. If I never applied I would not have grown as much as I have and I really needed to push myself and this was a way I could do it. And that's that!
I am realllly excited to meet people and I love to socialize and pick peoples brains. In my past experience I found it hard to talk to people without having their eyes glaze over when I bring up the games I love, and my learning experiences in illustration. I find there aren't many people around me that have the same passions I do ( besides my husband, he's an artist too!). So I am so excited to see people who are just as excited about the same things as me!! Chances are if you say you like the same things I do, I will jump down your throat and ask you 10 billion questions until I have all my answers lol, it's kind of a bad habit of mine.
I finished formatting my art for the appropriate format for printing and I have a contact for printing that I still need to contact for my prints. He owns his own shop and I will need to be contacting him soon.
I still have many pictures I would like to do before the big day. Which is why I should be working on that instead of blabbering on here!
Anyways, I can't wait! So excited!
Later!
